PERMATA Negara

 

Permata means “jewel,” “gem” or “precious stone” in Malay. I love the name of PERMATA cause it shows that “Every Child is PRECIOUS” and needed to be educate and build since yound. . This organization, the brainchild of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, was set up to promote and develop early childhood education and care.

Datin Seri Rosmah was impressed by the programme when Datin visited Pen Green Centre, Corby UK in February 2006 and immediately established the Permata Negara programme to adapt the Pen Green

Programme.

The first Permata Child Centre was launched in May 2007. They emphasis on learning through play. It is a learning that is enjoyable and based on child’s interest.

Aim:

To provide integrated quality care and early education services based on the need of the local community to children below 5 years old and their family.

Principles of Permata ECEC Centrers are as stated below:

·        Every child is a jewel for the country

·        Every child is precious

·        Every child is a part of the human capital of the country

·        Every child needs the best education

·        Education must start from young/birth

Services provided:

·        Out-reach program

·        Parenting courses

·        Counselling

·        Healthcare services

(To help local community to build healthy and safe life style)

·        Community services such as speech therapy, nutritionists

·        Facilities such as library, community resources centre

6 Learning Areas in PERMATA:

·        Emotional development

·        Social development

·        Intellectual development

·        Physical development

·        Self-help skills development (Urus diri)

·        Creativity and aesthetic development

It is quite similar with the focus of curriculum in Pen Green Centre.
