Great Minds begins at Head Start

Head Start Programme is a federal program for preschool children from low-income families. It was launched in the year of 1965 in United States by Jule Sugarman. It is dedicated to improving the quality of life, particularly the lives of the families in our communities. It provides a broad range of services to young children and their families in order to help children from birth to age five strive to excel constantly.

Head Start Programme provides professional services in education and early childhood development, medical, dental and mental health, nutrition and parent involvement. It provides young learners with social and academic skills that prepare them for school. The school usually will arrange professional staff work with each child in order to ensure that all necessary medical and dental exam are completed.

Teachers are the most important and influential part of Head Start. Teachers are encourage to have most interaction with the children so that they are admired and respected by different families and their children. Teachers need to be able to explain to the parent what is helpful to the child or what the child needs to work on. Teachers play a significant role to bring the children to the level that they need to be at before school starts. The class sizes are usually smaller in early childhood education than in school years. This is to ensure that the teacher will able to spend as much time as possible with each child.
