She is strict
but I know she care. She care about the quality that need to be instil in a
good teacher - to be discipline, to be punctual, serious
toward our mission. She wanted us to have greater vision and dream
towards our future. To be famous and to be great someday. She is really so so
GREAT! Who is she? She is my lecturer Dr. Zuraidah who teaches me the subject
of Programme Planning and Instructional Strategy.
Started
blogging today as she encouraged us to do so. She hope that we share what we
had learn to others. I know I am not the best to share but I would like to try
my best to learn and excel in this early childhood education field so that I
could be one of the famous early childhood educators in the world.
Today is a
informative day. It's great to learn in a relaxed way. I love the way Dr.
Zuraidah delivered her teaching by giving practical example with some jokes.
She encouraged us to participate in her teaching by inviting our coursemate to step
out to the front as an example. I believed that this is what we call active
learning.
I learn about
new teaching method which is introduced Glenn Doman. Glenn Doman suggests that
the teaching and learning of a baby must start as early as 10 months of age. Have
you ever wonder can a 10 month old baby read? Glenn Doman
had suggested one of the most famous methods of teaching is through the use of
Doman’s Flash Card. The Glenn Doman flash card kits contain only red and white
“visual stimulation cards” which are designed to help babies focus. Teachers or
parent could start with red colour print until the children master the reading skills.
Teachers or parents may move on to black colour print.
Red (Words) to Black (Short Sentences)
As for
Mathematics, the first part will be quantity recognition. Glenn Doman believes
that a child’s first exposure to numbers should be quantities but not numerals.
Children use symbols to represent quantity. Young children can perceive
quantities in ways adults cannot. You will be amazed that for a child, a card with 59 dots has 59 dots just by looking at it. But for us (adult) to know that the card has
59 dots, we could have to count them.
